Recently I posted on Facebook urging my followers to give to charity this holiday season. My intention was to highlight the importance of giving, bring attention to the charity events I would be involved with and to inspire people to either join me or to support other charities they connected with on their own. Even if it was simply a few minutes of their time, a dollar to a charity of their choosing, or a nice gesture to pay it forward. It's hard not to enjoy giving, especially during the holidays. Showing others our compassion, no matter how small leaves us a little lighter than we were before. Taking the initiative to be kind to others ignites joy in both them and ourselves. When we take the time to be kind, to put others before ourselves, or to give selflessly, we inspire and encourage others to do so as well. There's never a wrong time to give, or a wrong time to be kind. I do however believe that the time to give is now. In light of recent events that have taken place in our country and worldwide, we could all use a little kindness and share a little love.
So here is my formal invitation to you to give this season. In whatever way you can, in anyway that you can. Pick a person, a charity, a service, anything that would mean something to you, let it fill you with joy and let you share that joy with others.
"Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."- Mother Teresa
